Piece: Krroc
Type: Percussion Instrument
Dimensions: 21.5cm×6.5cm×5cm
Material: Solid Ash
Finish: Oil-wax Finish/Green oil-wax Finish
Picture this:
It's late in the evening, you’re having a fantastic time with friends you haven’t seen in forever. The radio is softly playing in the background when you suddenly recognize an old evergreen tune you haven't heard in ages. The nostalgia is thicc, the vibe is just right. So right now, with a smile and no shame, you decide to go all out. Go ahead, let yourself play!
Crocodiles are a very unusual sight in Finnish nature, as they rarely climb onto the shores of our thousands of lakes. However, Krroc seems to fit right in! Invite it inside and it will return your hospitality by giving your home a playful edge.

These quirky musical instruments are created by Anderssen & Voll. Krroc reimagines the guiro, a percussion instrument played by tapping and scraping its textured surface with a stick. Krocc’s best friend, Bic-Bac-Boc, is just as melodious – though even more of an enigma than its reptilian companion.

As enchanting as it is enigmatic, Bic-Bac-Boc keeps us guessing. Is it an elephant or perhaps a descendant of the long-extinct mammoths? Few know, but one thing is for sure: invite it inside and it will return your hospitality by giving your home a playful edge.

These quirky musical instruments are created by Norwegian design duo Anderssen & Voll. Bic-Bac-Boc is a percussion instrument carved from a solid piece of ash – each hollow section creating a unique sound when tapped with a stick. Bic-Bac-Boc’s reptile companion, Krroc, is just as melodious and eye-catching as its best friend. But fret not, Krroc is all bark and no bite.

Piece: Sokkelo
Type: Maze Game
Dimensions: 30cm×30cm×5cm

Let your mind drift as you play Sokkelo. With the steel ball as your guide, climb up and down imaginary hills and mountains, squeeze through narrow valleys, sweep softly along the undulating terrain. Calm nerves and steady hands are needed to conquer this seemingly simple game.
Sokkelo is a fresh take on the classic labyrinth game you may remember playing as a kid. For PELATA, Norwegian duo Anderssen & Voll has given it a new twist, using CNC technology to sculpt a tactile world from solid ash. The Finnish fells, the thousands of lakes, and their sandy shores… What kind of landscape does the Labyrinth draw for you?

Piece: Metsäpallo
Type: Yard Bowling Game
Design: Studio Tolvanen
Dimensions: 16.8cm×10.8cm×9.3cm
Material: Birch with paint
Finish: Lacquer finish
When you talk to Finnish people about trees, it's clear they love them – and it’s clear that they play favorites. Cut the spruces if you must. Spruce trees make the yard dark. But keep the pines! You can cut the birches, too, in moderation. Birch is superb firewood for the sauna. But keep the pines!
Metsäpallo is a yard bowling game designed by Studio Tolvanen around this quirky Finnish gardening phenomenon. Are you ready to roll the ball and accept the challenge? Be careful. If you knock over a worshipped pine tree, your turn is over!

Huippa

by
Kaksikko
Piece: Huippa
Type: Ring Toss
Design: Kaksikko
Dimensions: 55.5cm×15.5cm×21cm
Material: Birch with colored & Jute rope
Finish: Tree wax
Blueberries for breakfast, reading comics under the covers with a flashlight, coming together with friends and family to play games in the yard until late at night. Not a worry in the world.
Drawing inspiration from those carefree childhood summers, Huippa is Kaksikko's modern twist on the classic game of ring toss – cleverly reimagined using the design of another familiar household item, the accordion coat rack. The thick, tactile jute rope rings make the game safe for both indoor and outdoor fun, while the vibrant color scheme makes it a stylish display piece you won’t want to store away.

You can’t spell functionality without fun! Teaming up with celebrated Nordic designers, PELATA* created a range of sculptural objects with a playful twist. A collection of heirloom-quality wooden games and instruments, designed to be enjoyed for generations to come. Conversation starters, slayers of awkward silences.

Launched in 2024 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Finnish Design Shop, PELATA pieces is all about embracing the extraordinary in everyday life. We hand-picked classic games and instruments we’ve played with our loved ones time after time and gave their stories a new spin – now is your time to add a chapter.
